DAY 26 - SEAFOOD STIRFRY

Once again, we needed an "easy day" after spending yesterday in the heat walking around the floating market.  We needed to renew our 3G data plans for our iPads so Abe & Pon picked us up and took us back to the Tesco mall we'd originally bought the sim cards at.  On the way back, we stopped at a market they know of that's particularly good for fresh seafood.  Linda and Pon chose some fresh (live) prawns and scallops (still in the shell) to go with the veggies we'd picked up at Tesco.

Abe, meantime, took Danny to a place just outside the fish market where they sort the seafood catch.  Of course, Abe "knew a guy" who sold extra-large prawns.....  We've been so lucky to have Abe and Pon give us the inside info on so many things here.  Abe and his friends always seem to "know a guy".  He originally recommended us to the guy he knows who owns this condo; they got us a guy to do our laundry (pick up and deliver back to the condo); they told us about the guy to deliver drinking water; they got us a guy to clean the condo (on request); he got us a guy with a nice van to be our driver (again, on request); he took us to see a guy who sells nice watches; he's passed our name on to a guy he knows on one of the islands we're heading to next week (who, when we called, said he wanted to show us a special place on the island).  Anything we might need or want, Abe "has a guy"!  There are certain days of the year (King's birthday, national days of celebration, etc.) when stores will not sell any liquor.  Today is one of those days and it so happened that the guys were out of vodka (heaven forbid!).  Well, of course, Abe knew a guy...

Extra-large prawns - 6 prawns = approx 1 kg / cost 850THB ($27)

Did I mention that the owner doesn't like to cook?  TINY kitchen.

Some of the veggies for the stir-fry.  Greens on the left are called Morning Glory

Finished product

It was delicious!!!
