DAY 31 - Koh Samui
On Monday we left Pattaya behind. Flew out of the local airport called U-Tapao. It is actually a military airbase where Bangkok Airways has built an airstrip & terminal. Felt very odd to drive through what looked like a "military checkpoint" to get to the airport. Smaller than Abbotsford Airport. They actually loaded us onto a little shuttle bus to take us out to the plane. I was thinking our plane must be a ways away but no, it was just a short distance - Kelowna airport makes you walk further lol !
It was a short but occasionally bumpy ride over to Koh Samui (Koh means island), then a 15 minute taxi ride to the resort. This resort (Anantara Bophut Resort & Spa) is awesome!!!! Beautiful, lush, tropical, serene - not at all like Pattaya. Customer service here is excellent - very attentive, very helpful staff.
